The author, Katie Warner, then uses language like &amp;quot;might&amp;quot; and &amp;quot;seemed&amp;quot; to describe the priest&amp;#x27;s role, which diminishes priests to a pretend and unattainable role, rather than elevating them to the reality of being &amp;#x27;in persona Christi.&amp;#x27; We received this book as a Christmas gift, and it got into my children&amp;#x27;s hands without me being able to preread it. I always preread materials, and I wish I had been able to some how. My 4-year-old son came away from the book thinking that priests and Jesus Christ aren&amp;#x27;t real... because we rightly taught him that superheroes aren&amp;#x27;t real, just pretend. &amp;quot;&amp;#x27;There aren&amp;#x27;t superheroes for real anymore,&amp;#x27; muttered Jack&amp;#x27;s friend.&amp;quot; No, Katie Warner, there NEVER WERE any superheroes. If Jack&amp;#x27;s friend is going to speak the truth to him, then he should have said, &amp;quot;They&amp;#x27;re not real. They ALL -- despite their human weaknesses -- bring us Christ&amp;#x27;s graces in the Sacraments, even if the priest himself ceases to truly believe. &amp;quot;Seemed to invoke angels and saints&amp;quot;? No. The priest REALLY DOES invoke angels and saints. From the very start of their lives, we Catholic parents should be placing real role models -- saints -- on our children&amp;#x27;s walls and in their dreams, not imaginary nonsense that only confuses. I am so sad that by the end of the book, the child replaces the pictures on his wall. Those pictures should have been there from the beginning of his life. I would have liked to give the book zero stars, as I think it deserves, however I&amp;#x27;ll attribute the 1 star only to the fact that the priest is saying Mass in Extraordinary Form.
