Great books!
My daughter loves these books! She says they’re fun to read and I catch her laughing at the sisters antics as she’s reading.

Fun series
I write a similar one for another book in the series. If you have girls between 5-12, get these cut fun and Faith filled adventures of misfit nuns causing mischief as they strive for holiness.

Sisters of the Last Straw Volume 1
I recently purchased volume 1 & 2 for my 7-year-old granddaughter. I thought it would be a cute series for her. Nancy Drew with a Sister theme. I am disappointed in the adult themes in the book. The book reads for a young reader (2/3 grade) but the themes are not appropriate for that age. Seven year olds don't need to learn about the struggle to battle additions as with Sr. Lovely as she sneaks off to the basement for her smoking addition, or cursing Sr. Lacey. There are many struggles young children can relate to and learn the same virtues. Instead of cigarettes, Sr. could have a sweet tooth. Instead of cursing, Sr. could say unkind things, or gossip. They could suffer from laziness, not wanting to help with chores or get out of bed in the morning, not respecting authority. It is a shame, the books are a great idea, they just need to be more relatable to the age of the reader.

Maybe not for all girls...
My 10-year-old was quite perplexed by a lengthy description of "Sister Lovely" struggling with her addiction to cigarettes. I think I understand why it was in the book, but she didn't understand about the nun being asked to leave two convents so far because of her smoking, also her neglecting her duties and sneaking out to buy then hide the cigarettes. I think it seemed both too grown up ("boring") and disappointing to read about the hero of a children's book doing something so . She liked the one about the staircase though.

Sisters of the last Straw Book 1
I would have appreciated more information on the book before my purchase. I will provide a review for others. I purchased 3 books from the series as a Confirmation gift for my 9 year old Granddaughter. She is an avid reader. I read the first book in less than an hour and she reads faster than I !! It is a very tiny book, 7x5 large print and about 85 pages. It was a cute story but at $12.95 per book plus shipping cost I felt my money was poorly spent. All 6 stories could easily have been compiled in one larger book at a more reasonable cost.
